High Point Market Recap

It’s always difficult to explain exactly what High Point Market is to someone who’s never been. It’s equal parts product sourcing, inspiration gathering, education, networking, and celebrating. It’s the global design world coming together all at once and sharing the hottest products and trends. It’s walking miles and miles in your most fashionable outfits. It’s twelve hour days for sometimes up to six days in a row. And yet, it’s so magical and awe-inspiring at the same time. I feel lucky to live within driving distance, so I absolutely never miss it, and I’ve even created a guide (The Cool Girl’s Guide to High Point Market) to help others navigate the chaos and overwhelm. This spring Market was my 10th time attending and it was one of the best! Here are some of the products and collaborations I’m excited about.

Selamat x William Morris Co

You may be familiar with the quote “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” This was said by William Morris, a British artist who valued simplicity, craftsmanship, and sustainable home decor, heavily inspired by flora and fauna and who founded Morris & Co. design firm in 1861. Selamat has now reimagined a capsule collection of 20 iconic Morris & Co. patterns as carved furniture, lighting, wall decor and decorative accessories. It is stunning.

CR Laine Recliners

Recliners are tough. They generally just don’t look that nice. And yet, people love them and they are so comfortable. Well I’m super excited that CR Laine has introduced several recliners this season, for the very first time. I would happily include them in my design projects.

Four Hands Leather and Wood Chair

Whoa. This baby is a stunner. I love the combination of wood and leather.

Bungalow 5

I love this little side table. It also comes as a rectangle and there is a larger cocktail table version. In person it looks like a giant piece of ice. Very cool ;)

Bars

Everyone knows I love a bar cart. These two beauties caught my eye. I love the mid-century vibe if the cart on the left from Julian Chichester. The gorgeous bar on the right is handmade in Connecticut by my dear friends at Dunes & Duchess. Love it in red, but they can do lots of other colors too.

Chairish Print Shop

I’m always on the hunt for great sources for art. At Market, Chairish partnered with Dowel Furniture, which side note is also a very cool company, in their showroom to create a gorgeous gallery wall of works from the Chairish Print Shop.

The Charlotte Design Scene is Hot!

There are so many great collaborations happening with Charlotte artists and designers I just had to share. I love seeing local talent on the national stage!

Pictured below, clockwise:

  1. Cheryl Luckett sitting pretty on her Belle by Cheryl Luckett collection for Sylvester Alexander. (Oh and fun fact, her collection is also in the current issue of Traditional Home)

  2. Charlotte artist, Laura Park, for Wildwood Lamps.

  3. House of Harris (a high-end fabric and wallpaper company co-founded by Charlotte designer, Charlotte Lucas, and her sister Liz Carroll) for Chaddock Home.

  4. Charlotte artist, Jill Seale, has a new rug line with Company C.
